Belly Dance -- Recommendations?

topic posted Mon, February 19, 2007 - 10:26 PM by
I've finally got funding available to potentially pursue taking neat classes, like belly dancing. So i thought i'd ask for belly dancing recommendations!

I'm looking for something affordable, preferably closer to the valley. I'm willing to go to the westside, though & i'm looking for classes, not private instruction. & any other neat classes you'd like to recommend? I'd love to hear them!

Thank you for any leads!

Hi! I'd recommend Jenna.. who's on tribe,I'll connect the two of you. She's in the valley, (North Hollywood)
Tamra Henna too is excellent for Egyptian raks sharki, & teaches in the valley as well.
My favorite teacher is Aubre, she's here on tribe. Aubre teaches Suhaila's technique which is super challenging, but her classes are in Alhambra.
If you're just starting with BD lessons, get a good Egyptian foundation first, then branch off into tribal, fusion, or wherever your heart takes you. How exciting! I hope to see you around sometime. There's a great tribal event coming up mid-April called Tribal Caravan, in Calabassas.
I think Tribal Caravan has it's own tribe, so look it up if you're interested.
    Have fun!

o.k. this is very inexpensive but a great introduction. It's Mission College Extension. Classes are in Granada Hills. Corner of San Fernando and Balboa, right off the 118. Classes are very cheap, the location is good but bare. The instructors there are very good and the classes are a great workout at all levels. Here is the website. www.lamission.edu/extension/

My hubby is from SFV. We don't have a shop in town but we're in AZ and ship fast. Check out our stuff and if you like what you see please keep our site in mind. Our goal is to provide quality tribal costuming at very affordable prices. We have amazing seamstress and our clothing will last you for years to come.
